Microsoft

Microsoft has dominant market shares in PC operating systems and productivity software, and is a leader in cloud computing. In FY 2017, revenue was 26% from Microsoft Office, 23% from Server products and tools, and 16% from Windows PC OS (adjusted for $6.7 bn net revenue deferral from Windows 10). Those combined were 65% of sales and a much larger percentage of operating profit. MSFT also generated 10% revenue from Xbox platform, 7% advertising, 6% consulting and product support services, 5% devices, 2% LinkedIn, and 6% other. Microsoft's sales of Windows and to a lesser extent Office have been correlated with PC shipments. Historically, ~65% of Windows PC OS sales were pre-installed on OEM devices. MSFT's reliance on PC shipments is declining as it sells more of its software via cloud subscriptions. In FY17, 50% of MSFT's revenue was in the US. Software piracy is much more prevalent outside the US. Commercial cloud revenue of $5.3 bn in F2Q18 (~18% of total) was up ~56% YoY. (23 Feb 2018)
