Gajah Tunggal

Indonesia-based Gajah Tunggal is the largest tyre producer in South East Asia. The group makes bias tyres for buses and trucks, radial tyres for cars and motorcycle tyres. It also manufactures tyre cord and synthetic rubber. Gajah positions itself as a low Tier 2/high Tier 3 manufacturer, in the economy segment of the tyre market. Most of Gajah's bias and motorcycle tyres are sold in the domestic replacement or OEM (original equipment manufacturer) market. The bulk of Gajah's radial tyres are sold for export in the replacement market, with North America and Europe as the principal export destinations. Gajah operates 5 tyre plants in Indonesia. The group is aiming to commence the truck and bus radial tyre facility. Gajah listed in 1990 on the Jakarta and Surabaya Stock Exchanges (now merged under the Indonesia Stock Exchange).
